Ok, so I'm guilty. I love my shiny, clean, stainless steel refrigerator as much as the next girl. But, I (cringe!) find my self missing the chaos. My fridge used to be my very own surface for self expression, with it's magnetic surface it told the story of where we'd been with colorful magnets from Purgatory, Colorado or landmark shaped pieces from Paris. It showed where we were going, future parties, weddings and

doctor appointments with gorgeous invitations being showcased. It announced what we were proud of: ultrasound printouts, pictures of new relatives and old ones, and artwork drawn by our nephews on their last visit. It was a masterpiece of life in progress. Now, it's stark and empty, longing (i think) for personality. Well, I have found the perfect solution to that! Clips and frames that will, drum roll... stick! Introducing, Happeez clips and frames available in Cypress only at B. Ellen Boutique! This is going to get you more organised, and help you find important things quicker because you won't be hiding things from yourself!

They come in tons of designs, from which I have chosen the best! These little gems will be excellent as tie-ons for gifts, or as small sweet gifts for teachers, girlfriends, and anyone else who needs a little pick up. And, they don't just stick to stainless steel. I use mine on our bathroom mirror to leave notes to my sweet Shannon, or to hold my urgent to do item of the day so I don't forget (it's hard to put on my make up without seeing it!). While they don't stick to everything, they do stick to slick, non porous surfaces including: glass, mirrors, and aluminum. I don't know how it works, but it actually attracts to these surfaces (like a magnet) and does not leave a residue.

Oh, and the frames!! Same deal, they stick to flat surfaces and provide you with a great place to show off a snapshot. Show off that silly picture of your last vacation in style! It will make you smile every time you open the fridge.

Waxing Poetic

Waxing Poetic is possibly the most customizable jewelry I have seen in a long time. Many people know them for the intials, and the beautiful variety of them. They are much, much more!

One of my favorite pieces from them is the Stress Remedy charm.

I love the vintage genie bottle look, and for me, it's a reminder to slow down and take a break! It is $60 and looks great on all of the chains we have in stock, but my favorite has to be the brass chain. Brass is huge right now in the jewelry world, in fact look for an entire new collection of it from VSA designs coming mid-August to B. ellen Boutique. Speaking of brass, check out these two tone charms.

These silver rimmed beauties earn their patina over time giving them a great, well traveled look. These intial pendants look great layered with the birthstones, remedy bottles, or just about all of the other pieces.

I love the idea of honoring my Grandparents with a collection necklace. My plan is to have one charm for each of them as well and one for my only Uncle, Calvin.

The first charm will be for my Grandmother Alice. As a very young child I can remember her reading to my sister and I. Even though she has been gone for many years, I can still hear her voice saying those words every child should hear as much as possible, "Once upon a time...". No matter what the story was, she always said those three words exactly the same way. Luckily, I heard them so many times, they imprinted on my heart.

My Grandfather, was a business man. He took over our family's store, http://www.texastastes.com, from my Great-Grandfather in the 1940s. He taught me about customer service, and loving what you do for a living. He taught my Dad the same things, and while we don't work together everyday anymore we talk about our favorite things (our stores!) everyday, and remind each other of how proud we are of each others sucesses. We are certain that my grandfather is looking down on us, and that he is very proud as well! The most important thing I learned from him, was to be myself and follow my heart. This charm from Waxing Poetic expresses just that. On one side it says "Live True" and on the other it says " Your heart is your map". Yes, that fits.

Last, but most certainly not least on that side, my beloved Uncle Calvin. When he was eight years old, it was discovered that he had a tyroid deficency which had unfortunately caused brain damage. He was frozen at that age mentally, high fuctioning, but childlike. He read to us and doted on us as children, and now as adults, he adores us. And we adore him! My son Cameron is the apple of his eye, and we all look forward to visits.
As a young man, he enjoyed pitching a baseball in the backlot of the store to kids whose parents were shopping at our store. To say he was obsessed with baseball would be an understatement. He knew almost all of the major league players and their stats up until just a few years ago. It was unusual to go over to my grandparent's house (where he lived) and not hear a baseball game playing on the radio. My husband, Shannon, was the pitcher for our high school, and when we started dating three years later, I brought him home to meet the family. My uncle remembered him from hearing his name on our local radio station. It's really obvious, but Waxing Poetics Past Times Baseball pendant reminds me the most of my Uncle.

My Mother's parents were amazing people as well. My Grandmother was an auctioneer's secretary, taking auction notes at Port City Stockyards in Sealy, Texas for many years. I always admired her strength, because she suffered from deblitating arthritis in her hands. I never heard her complain about her hands, not once. What I do remember is she belonged to tons of volunteer and community groups. She never failed to show up for countless commitments. She had many, many friends and touched many lives with love and kindness. It was a rare Friday, Saturday or Sunday that they sat at home. Even late in life they were visiting friends or entertaining them at their home. So, the charm that fits my memory of her is a special one. It's a flip pendant, and says one thing on one side, and the rest on the other. "Say yes more often"

My Grandfather was a Navy Frogman, a predessor to today's Navy SEALS, and was most definitely my hero. He spoke very little about his service, and when he did, it was not to brag- it was matter of fact. He often told his stories so straight forward, that you weren't impressed until later when you thought about it. He planted flags in enemy territory so that our planes knew where to land. He was one of the first ones on the beach at Normandy, the list goes on and on for three tours of duty. When I saw the lion dog tag from Waxing Poetic, I knew it was perfect. The lion is a symbol of courage.

So, that's my story. How will you tell yours?

These kits are perfect girlfriend gifts or stocking stuffers for your teenage daughters! They have all the little necessities from fingernail clippers to tampons. Everyone should keep one in their car in case of "Shemergency!"

The Elf on the Shelf is a wonderful Christmas tradition. It comes with a storybook to read to your small children and an elf which your child names. So, everyone knows how much I love Charlotte Tarantola, well I just fell a little deeper in love! We put out our latest shipment, and it contains the cutest stuff yet! We got their trademark sweaters including the sought after "Snakebite" cardigan, and the stretch silk camis. But this time we also got walking shorts and a coat! The shorts are the perfect thing for our warm winter days, but they still are right on point for the season. The coat is super cute and comfortable when paired with a tank. What a great idea! Elf on the Shelf is the perfect thing for families with small children. The gift set comes with an elf doll and a holiday storybook. The idea is that you read the story with your child and then choose a name for your elf. The next morning the elf appears (with Mommy or Daddy's help) high on a shelf (so it can't be touched by curious fingers) to observe your child for Santa Claus. Our elf (named Strawberry by my two year old son) came to stay with us last week, and let's just say we haven't had to remind a certain someone to be nice, not naughty too many times!

Charlotte Tarantola tops and sweaters new today

We got in a great variety of one of my favorites, Charlotte Tarantola. You'll love the cuddly cardigans, and the great camis to go with them. Never underestimate the power of a awesome cami in our beautiful (but HOT) Texas weather. You want to be able to to take off your gorgeous sweater and still look dressed. Problem...solved. Take the great charcoal sweater below, the cami we've put with it is really more of a tank with silk details (not pictured). Also not pictured is another must have sweater we've paired with a stretch silk cami in leopard print. The top below is so perfect to wear right now. It screams Fall without being long sleeve. The matte gold collar dresses it up.

The green tunic below is great with super dark David Kahn jeans. It will quite possibly be your favorite outfit of the season.

My "friendenemy" is Spanx's Higher Power which covers my problem area (tummy) and does not roll down no matter how much I twist and turn chasing my two year old. A large shipment of Rebecca Ellis wall crosses came in today. They are handmade from wire and various stones, beads and crystals. My favorite is the Deluxe Rock Cross (pictured) it is 11" tall and is made from large multi colored unpolished rocks. We received the most beautiful candles. They came in white, cream, green, yellow, ruby, grey and brown. They are heavily scented, and definitely don't need to be burned to be enjoyed. Gin dropped by with her new Spring line from her Be True Collection last night, and it is stunning! She brought us a ton of beautiful fine silver pieces and as requested tons of cute earrings! We have the new hammered hearts that will be seen on The Bachelor in April. We have both the gold and silver versions. The new silver bar named "the Shannon" after my wonderful husband is a must have. We also snatched up "the Coco" which is a chic brown agate piece on gold chain to spice up your spring wardrobe. The only other store that had one of these sold it to Courteney Cox's stylist. Courteney was spotted wearing the piece in Ok! Magazine.

Tonight I'll be out with a few of my best friends (over 500 of them) for ladies' night at Rodeo Houston. Most of my friends from L.I.P.S. (Ladies Into Purchasing Stock) will be there. If you haven't heard of this wonderful group of which I am a proud member, here is their purpose statement from their website:

"Ladies Into Purchasing Stock ("LIPS") was born in 1992 by a group of women desiring to become more involved in the life of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo™ ("HLSR"). Their purpose was right in step with that of HLSR, supporting the youth of Texas in their agricultural and artistic endeavors. Not every child can win Grand Champion, but LIPS' purpose was to make every child feel as if they were. Since attending their first auction in 1993 with $2,000 and a very big heart, LIPS has grown to a membership of 100 ladies and has raised approximately half a million dollars to support the educations of young people in the Great State of Texas. Today, these ladies are hard working, active members of 30 different HLSR™ committees as well as moms, professionals and community volunteers."

Frye shoes! Oh wow! Anyone out there that's a size 8 better hurry if they like any of the the new Frye shoes we just got in. I am trying really hard to show some restraint (no I don't need everything that comes in!) but these shoes are perfect. Those of you who know me, know I have some what of a "shoe problem". I haven't actually worn heels in a while.I gave them up to protect my unborn child; I was pregnant (some twenty-one months ago) and very clumsy. While I'm still not the most graceful person on the planet, at least now I won't be putting my gorgeous son, who's now officially too heavy to be carried everywhere, in any precarious position if I indulge in these beautiful wedges. So, if my favorite pair is still there on Saturday afternoon, they're mine.
